The wrong car,

but a splendid holiday all the same.

The Master plan was to get the Triumph finished in time for our "driving holiday" round England and Ireland. Unfortunately to go from this

and this

to this

in 2 months proved a bit to ambitious so instead it was this,

This picture was taken in the Southern Irish "Gourmet" town of Kinsale. We covered a total of 2500Km in the old Opel and it didn't miss a beat (apart from installing a new coil which packed up after 20 minutes, so the old one went back in (ain't broke don't fix routine)).

So as you can see from the above photo's a little over 1 month behind schedule we are back behind the wheel of my 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500 which I acquired in 1995 and has been in bits since late 1998. A very satisfying achievement. It went for it's technical registration control today, it needs a new Windscreen (ordered as we broke the old one putting it in), the brake pipes secured better and the chassis number stamping in the chassis (I think I changed the bit of chassis that should have had the number on it....). More project details in due course on more-power.

Frog or Toad?

and how can we tell in the future?
