Kris Kindle 2012

It's that time of year again and time for the blogs annual spate of activity. Other social media (you'll find me on Facebook) and a lack of time have taken over for the time being but the Kris Kinlde tradition continues.

So, we haven't had our letters yet, but that doesn't stop us from posting. Kid sister requested this blog post and said that she is hoping for one of her cycling freak brothers to buy for her..... Hmm, what does she want then.

In other news, can parents please post what their kids want quite soon. Request from Mrs VL which I am sure is appreciated by all.

Now, remember that we like witty and cryptic posts....

Get posting.

Well, I'll start.

I've got a few ideas in my mind including some made of the 22 element of the periodic table.

Mrs TOCO said...

Suggestions for the smaller members of the Finnish branch, should anybody need hints:

Something from the Playmobil range for boys (perhaps a combined pressie for both boys from several people as it's a pricy range), but not necessarily car stuff.

Boys dressing up outfits (e.g. a fireman/ knight/ Batman...)

English DVDs suitable for young boys (we have already Bob the Builder and Little Red Tractor)

Clothes for boys(sizes M: 86cm and T: 100cm)

Ideas for girls to follow at some later stage...

Thanks Mrs TOCO,

We are working on a list here so it will follow soon. Une is very excited about Christmas and yesterday he told me that we had to write a list and send it to Father Christmas. So I started, and he thougth it was great fun, making sure several times that I had written what he said. Liam is a bit harder, but will come up with some ideas. MR VL is off sunbathing? (the neighbour is sure of that anyway) in Turkey this week....

I've loads and loads of ideas, but haven't got any clever ways of expressing them. so will spend a little while getting my thoughts together. I don't normally do cryptic as you all know.

Meanwhile, I do hope my KK gets blogging soon, because this year I'm going to be ORGANISED.

Also, reading last years Christmas letter again has made Our Father and I nostalgic for Norway. Must come soon......

P.S TOCO. Whatever was: H.M.O.O.F., T.D.J., M.W.P.O.H.O.O.(Dip) all hooabout? We're really up a creek without a paddle over this!

P.P.S.I find it very difficult to prove I'm not a robot. Its such a nuisance!

Mrs TOCO said...

Well, here are a couple of ideas for TOCO girls should anybody need them:

S & M could both do with a (sort of waterproof)sheet music bag. Amazon does quite nice ones for less than £10. A shoulder strap on the bag would be an added bonus.

Both girls like doing crafts. E.g. knitting wool or something like that would be great.

Both girls would like fluffy slippers (e.g. some animal).
Sizes:
S: European 36 = UK 3,5 - 4
M: Eur 33 = UK 1

Both girls are great Harry Potter fans (although I've allowed M to read only the first 3 books so far. S has read them all nearly 10 times!). Anything in that theme (e.g. a mug, T-shirt, key ring...) would go done very well indeed.

I hope these are helpful to you :-)

Sorry my spelling mistake. Meant "DOWN" not "DONE"...

A bit of crypticness for you! This year I have a great thought,
something that I can enjoy every month (no, not that, I might be over 40 but I'm not menopausal...yet!)
It will give me more great ideas for the Garden (oh no groans PJ!)with loads Illustrated.

little big sis said...

P.S. if it comes to a bit more than the limit I'll make up the rest!

OMG - I'm already stumped. heaven help me.

Dear Kris Kindle. I would really like a nice multiphoto frame to put on our bedroom wall. It needs to hold at least 4 pictures (surprise, surprise). I’ve found one on amazon that I’d really like but there were only 10 left, so Kris Kindle would need to be quick ...
This is the one I’d love to get:

Deknudt S65SK3 Galerie 12x10x15 wood white - Deknudt

Failing that, my second choice would be either a large white framed (but not plastic) photoframe with 4-6 slots for photos (with at least 2 of them in the upright position)... but I couldn’t find anything that I’d like on amazon. But one (although it’s not white) that I quite liked was this one:

Hampton Frames Gallery 5 Aperture White Oak Photo Frame

But if Kris kindle has no luck with the photo frames, getting another 6.7 litre bowl for my Kenwood Major kitchen machine would also be great.
Details:
Stainless steel one: Kenwood 34655 St/Stl Bowl Major Polished Pkd
or plastic one: Kenwood 26538 Bowl Poly Major
(Both of these are available on amazon)
Looking forward to Christmas!

Mrs Toco

P.S. Just to annoy everyone: I've done nearly all my Christmas shopping already!

Mrs TOCO said...

To clarify the previous comment: the Hampton frame link seems to come up with two different designs. The one I prefer is the one with 2 portait and 3 landscape photo slots (16£).

Finally some time to write present wishes from the two youngest boys in Norway.

FBS has a mile long list (makes it easy to chose I hope). Some of these may not be so suitable for postage, but are included here so I can send the link to his Norwegian family too:
-DVD- Lion King 3, Dinosaur Train.
-Something related to The Cat in the Hat (toy, game, book).
-Colouring pens
-Anything Lego, particularly mentioned an ambulance, firefighting motorbike or quadbike.
-Fotball
-Brio railway parts
-Stickers
-Small cars (rally, sportscar, 'Red' from Cars movie)
-A belt with some 'cool' theme like Spiderman or Cars
-Fishing game
-Skipping rope
-Clothes size 110-116 (my suggestion)
-Night/Day clock = Kid'Sleep Clock blue (my suggestion, but also requires several to buy together as pricy).

Then a shorter list for SBS:-)
-Clothes around size 92. Is about 86 now, so may depend if large in size and season suitable for.
-Crayons suitable for small hands
-Pencil case for crayons (e.g. 'tube' type)
-Kid'Sleep Clock (as for FBS, and same comment)
-Books
-Fisher Price, 'Little People series', e.g. DC Super friends, Zoo talkers, Wheelies.
-Duplo
-Schleich fgures
SBS is just starting to be more focused on toys, but difficult to say much about preferences yet, so your guesses might be as good as mine.

I will then 'pass the relay baton'(Maybe only a Norwegian expression?) to LBS, so all grandchildren wishes are posted on the blog. Thanks!

Being efficient this evening...Now to a first KK wish.

http://www.glerups.com/?page=webshop_item&itemid=17

These would keep my feet nice and warm on our cold floors, but are really over budget. Maybe someone clever manage to find them cheaper on Ebay or somewhere like that. I can reimburse the amount over budget as well.

I will think of another alternative as well and try to come up with a riddel slightly more exciting. But then my KK buyer cannot be someone who intends to be organised and finnish all x-mas preps the first week in December.

Mrs VL said...

Forgot the size, not on purpose to create a challenge. It is European 39, 40 probably ok too.

little big sis said...

An idea for a combined pressie for my lot is Just Dance 4 for our Double U eye eye! Also FIFA 13! Hope this helps.
Need to keep the KK ideas coming too, please, only 20 sleeps to christmas......! Will try to get my better half on here too.

Now that the Fergie is going to get more use with a topper, it would be good if it was a tad more comfy...a couple of thoughts from a website I have bought from already..

http://old20tractorparts.com/t20-tinwork/2369-seat-pan-cushion-cover-red-white-5010006.html £24

http://old20tractorparts.com/fordson-dexta-exhaust-parts/522-exhaust-silencer-weatherflap-2-inch-2442000.html £6

plus if there's still room in the budget for a book on WWI having just been to Ypres/Brussels..

They Called it Passchendaele: The Story of the Battle of Ypres and of the Men Who Fought in it by Lyn MacDonald (24 Jun 1993)

WOW Things are happening and I still can't find a way to express my requests!

But you'll be glad to know I'm working on it. How about the rest of you................... non bloggers as yet.?

Viking Longship said...

Argh, I'm just back from a tour of the middle east and I havn't managed to work out it I want something made out of the 22nd element of the periodic table or something that will help me control myself.......

Kid Sister said...

My mind does not feel like being criptic or clever today so here's my first idea...

A friend of mines brother in law has published a fabulous duo of books. I would love my own collection but I think they may require an anti theft alarm from LBS......here's the link :-)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Abandoned-Mansions-Ireland-Tarquin-Blake/dp/1848890613/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354885584&sr=8-1

My second idea is to get a little GPS Odometer for my bike preferably a Garmin.(My cheepy one fell off the bike and deleted all my records :-() ..unfortunately they are way beyond the price limit. But maybe my kris kringle is super resourceful and could sort something out.... ;-D

Mum of All said...

The garden is full of hedges,
They continue to grow more than they should.
Sadly my electric hedge cutters are ancient,
And no longer cut through the wood.

But my nightwear is even more ancient
All tattered and worn.
Size 14 slinky would be useful
So I stop looking quite so folorn.

From time to time we entertain,
Candles, serviettes and silverware.
But the wine glasses are very plain
And Cut Glass would improve the fare.

The bathroom is draughty and cold
It feels really bad when wet.
A lovely warm towelling robe
Would just be the Tick - et.

I really don't want too much -
Or maybe I do....!
If none of the above are possible
A surprise would be very acceptable

So, thanks in advance to my K.K.
Hope you don't have too much trouble.
- and if my gift exceeds the limit
I'll be glad to pay you back double.

Its not quite Shakespeare, but at least I've made an effort.....

Mrs VL said...

Another idea from me. It was on last years KK wish list, but this time either an U or a L please. And ignore that about the two-toned type.

Anonymous said...

Mum-of-all, less of the slinky please, have a thought for Our Fathers ticker!!!

Viking Longship said...

Well, I've decided....

and

My Kris Kindle would not be possible without William Gregors discovery in 1791 in Cornwall.

I can also say that I will need 2 and they will weigh 22gms each and that they serve the same purpose as last years present except that I will most likely never use these at the same time as that....

As ever, I have a very specific item(x2) in mind and it will be a web order, so to my KK, do not dispare you will get an internet link in due course although I would like some guesses first!

Finally,If they do not arrive in time for christmas it doesn't really matter, I don't exactly need them as long as all this white stuff is lying around outside.

Viking Longship said...

Kid sister, just asking, why do you want a GPS Odometer when you have Endomondo? Aren't you better off with a decent cycle computer and a normal wheel sensor (you can probalby get cadence to for €50 if you're bothered)????

€50 should get you a pretty decent one and there are loads to chose from. If you want a worthwhile GPS on the handlebars you're talking silly money and the cheap ones are not worth having. I use my phone for GPS and a normal bike computer for telling me how far and how fast.

Mr. TOCO said...

A sustained burst of applause to those of you who have come up with something worthwhile - especially mum of all! Not sure if it's Grandfathers ticker I'd be worried about, but something else...

A long loud raspberry to those of you who just wrote what they wanted in plain English (including my wife, who received hers personally...)

Come on, why not give us some hare-brained and completely useless clues like VL and then spill the beans later... Just realised that VL's present contains at the beginning of the name of it's substance something which may cause trouble for the old ticker again. Shame on you.

Am waiting for GOA to up the stakes considerably!

London Son said...

Sorry for the delay in posting, as ever I've found it bloody difficult to think of any decent suggestions... So here are a few to get the ball rolling.

Cookbooks: my Jamie Oliver collection have one by one gone walkabouts so any of those/similar would be great! (Not Wagamama though, already have that one)

Jumpers: could always use a good jumper, I think dark blue is my best colour and I'm a small/medium size...

Ceramic knife: kid sister has a very nice looking set of these, I've not done much research but a chef's knife (about 8 inch blade) would be awesome...

Just a start, more to follow shortly...

Anonymous said...

Just wondering, can I ask if anyone has bought the sheet music bags for Mrs TOCO's girls?

Anonymous said...

Thats a no from me!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for feedback. If no more replies after today, I will assume that is a no from all.

Kid Sister said...

Well VL.... Endomondo is fine until the battery dies on my phone and seeing as it sucks the battery life out of it, it doenst get very far AND moderne smart phones are C###...Mine have been sent back to the manufacturers and will be wiped clean so once again not much use to me. Kid Sisters B/F's Garmin on the other hand lasts 20 hours, charges in seconds, tells you everything about your journey including temperature, heart rate, cadence (i dont know what that is) and power. I thought I'd be happy without one but since my not so cheap odometer yokey fell to the ground and wiped itself clean I feel maybe I should consider a Garmin. Sure it's too expensive anyways so I will just plod on until I can afford one ;-(
OOh and the other thing I like about the Garmin is that it stops when you stop which makes everythinh just a little more accurate for times. Rant over!

Father of All

Sorry, I'm far too busy this year in retirement to spend time being cryptic, but I must post something at last.

Something to do with model making would be good. Miniature tools - tweezers, mini files, small paint brushes, modeling knives and assorted blades.

Something I would like,
I'd use it quite a lot
Is a mini magnifier
Like what PJ's got.

or a lamp with a magnifying glass built in. Google Squires tools (Bognor regis),CKS09023 P/C Precision Craft tool set, or Clip on spectacle lens D91171 or Mini table lamp Flourescent Magnifier 120-093
Anything on these lines,

or Socks/underpants(but not the brand of Y fronts I have at present that were clearly designed by a woman who either had little idea of the male anatomy or was a vindictive sadist).

Viking Longship said...

OK, here's what I would like.

2 of these please to match my ti frame.

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-titanium-bottle-cage/

Quite unnessecary but hey, it's christmas and they will look the biz and save me 50grams or so!

Mr TOCO said...

I've heard of being too big for your boots, but...

(In reply to the y-front problem)...

Mr TOCO said...

I've thought for ages,
and consulted sages,
now i've found something I like,
and it's not some old bike.

How can I explain,
with only one cell in my brain,
what'll do the trick
is this thin little stick.

To show how to go,
to play fast loud or slow,
this would be useful,
if I must be truthful.

To transport it safely,
which I must do daily,
i need some protection,
to keep it in tension

It's a part of my work,
which is not easy to shirk,
it goes up and down,
and it's not a clown.

This was my short clue,
which I felt I must do,
since all others have left
straight links for the rest.

For tomorrow I'll tell,
where to find it and to hell
with dithering about,
I hope I'm in with a shout,
for it to arrive in time for christmas.

(Sorry ran out of inspiration...)

Link(s) to follow in the morning.

Here's my kris kindle:

The leather case in tan, thank you.

And then one or more of these (14"), according to how much is left:

http://premierbatons.com/detail.aspx?ID=13

Otherwise you could get some of these in addition to the case:

http://www.amazon.com/King-David-Duco-Baton-White/dp/B0002E52HK

(It needs to be pear shaped and 14" long)

Did this cause FOA's underwear problem I wonder?

For the immediate attention of Mrs. VL:

With a bit of help from the Finnish branch of the family I would like to suggest the following which is within the price range:

http://www.superstore.fi/huopatehdas/huopatossut/kukkapistokas-kumipohjalla-2006.html

(it's a bit difficult to find felt slippers in this part of the world, and I know that the Finnish ones are excellent...)

The cost of the slippers which you want comes up to 90e with delivery - are you happy to pay the extra?

If neither of the above are up to it, did the greek goddess wear Silver or Gold around her wrist?

Mrs VL said...

Dear Anonymous,
Our floors are so cold, and I wear out all my wooly socks..just holes. The Finnish ones look very nice, but I am just a bit concerned that the sole will not last that long. Say that, my experience with felt slippers is limited. I am happy to pay the extra, but surprise me my KK and make the choice you think is the best. Could I just suggest that if you go for the Finnish ones maybe the ones that are a bit higher at the heel: http://www.superstore.fi/huopatehdas/huopatossut/huopakotitossu-harmaa-784.html
The Goddess wore silver I am sure:-)

Various parcels should be on their way to your house, all in your name. Please keep Mr. TOCO away from the mail box, open wrap and hide away until present opening (well, one will probably arrive well after present opening day) . I am sorry about giving you the job to wrap, sure you have enough to think about. Alternatively,if pressed for time, just remove any clues about who it is from . Thanks a lot!

Dear Mr. VL

A small parcel should arrive addressed to you. It's not for you - could you wrap it up carefully in christmassy paper, tie some ribbon round it and put a nice bow on it. Please finish it off with a festive card marked as: for Mrs. Vl from her Kriskindle.

With much thanks and seasonal greetings,

Dear Mrs VL,

A packet is on its way to fBS and SBS, and you will be glad to know they are already wrapped. BUT thats only a token for them. Please will you obtain something else each with the filthy lucre that has been deposited in your bank account. So I'm actually giving you a much bigger job than just wrapping parcels. I just ran out of time to get something from your very comprehensive list and also didn't know what others have sent. This comes with all our love.
