Kris-Kindle 2017

All I want for Christmas is.... a Brake control module for a Volvo XC70 that doesn't display a myriad of warnings and cause all sorts of important functions to stop doing exactly that, to be able to ride my Unicycle, to have the house ready for winter, firewood, snow, peace on earth, lights in the middle barn, more space and less cr4p filling it..... So, that's what I want, but what does everyone else want.

Same set up as last year, singles, €50, and as far as I am aware (correct me if I am wrong) the same 13 members as last year.

Get posting.

That sums it up. Well done. And good luck to Andy's Kk. That's quite a challenge. I've started thinking.

Mum of Sum said...

Delighted to hear that Andy's first Christmas wish has been granted already. His Volvo dashboard is no longer lighting up like a Christmas Tree.

HOWEVER. we need the hints to start as there are 13 kk's to be hinted at, bought and distributed in 35 days time.

Be like me...........Thinking hard!

Am I little big or Big Little....Feck it go with the one who's at the younger end of the boys.... said...

Dear Kris Kindle,

There is only a few hours in which to purchase what I would really like for Christmas so please excuse the lack of imagination...

Preferred option kinda breaks the price limit......

http://www.debenhams.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10052_10001_312014300480_-1

King Size please

or the more affordable option is...

http://www.debenhams.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10052_10001_312014300180_-1

Also King Size.

Offer ends at midnight supposedly.

Anyways you get the picture of one thing I would like for Christmas.

I'll be more creative with the other things I might also like.

Little big or big little having set an example I shall follow in the same style:

Having experienced several times last year the joy (?) of skiing down on icy tracks in the forest and the lighting being switched of in the middle of it... I would really, really like a light weight good quality led head torch/light. Something that I could wear when I'm skiing. It would really help if it was adjustable so that I could point it towards the tracks without having to bend my whole head downwards(and as a result end up doing roly polies on my skies)

Snow storm on the forecast for tonight...

Could we have some hints please...

If anybody is thinking of getting something for our children and is still looking for ideas as to what to get... here are some thoughts:

All of them could do with new pyjamas!
S: 170cm or size S
M (female): 160cm or size xs
T: 140 cm
M (male): 128 cm

S would also be delighted with household slippers (size 38-39), some mathematical puzzles, or a new washbag

M (f) slippers (size 36), drawing stuff, a wall calendar (she likes animals ja Manga)

T would also love anything in the theme of football theme (FCB keyring, Arsenal socks, football themed playing cards, a towel...)

M (m) is the same as the previous one really. A cool towel would be particularly appreaciated as he refuses to use any towels that are too babyish...

Some years ago a knob on our alarm clock broke, so I modified a Triang toy key to use to set the alarm. Owing to an unforeseen problem (my wife) that key has disappeared into thin air, or the hoover. So the alarm always sounds at 6.45 by the clock. All is not lost, though, as we can adjust the time as indicated by the hands of the clock so that the alarm goes off at the desired REAL time, although this is not necessarily the time indicated. I hope I have explained this somewhat complicated procedure in terms that can be understood by those in the family with a higher degree in mathematics.
You will all appreciate that the process outlined above is a trifle hazardous especially when one has to get up in time for an important early event, and remembering that setting the alarm has been done late at night at a time when one's thought processes may not be at their most lucid.

I wonder what I would like/need for Christmas? Socks? - right first time!

Mrs VL said...

Thank you Mrs TOCO for some ideas for the children. I will follow your example and post some ideas for U, L and K. , or did we use to call them FBS, SBS and TBS ? Mr. VL, what do you prefer?

U:
Lego Ninjago movie, most types (except 70614)
Fingerling monkey (preferably dark blue or black)
Trash pack stuff
NERF guns- various
All that has to do with Pokémon cards
Money
Chemistry set
101 Experiments
King of Tokyo game

L:
Fingerling monkey
Slinky
NERF gun stuff
Pokémon - Kommo-o GX Box
RC fighting robots two pack
Playmobil Dragons - Hiccup and Toothless
TY teddy owl with bright colours

As someone might guess U and L has read the toy shop catalogue in detail. I did try to suggest som "useful" presents, but nothing seem to catch their interest. Nonetheless, it up to the buyer to choose what to get, and in that respect I guess clothes sizes might be needed. U: 140 cm and up, L: 120 cm, K: around 86 cm now, I would guess around 92 cm in the summer. Actually a cool hoody jumper for U and L might be appreciated - at least U has said he would like that. K inherits most clothes, nothing he desperately needs, but thin wool socks and other soft wool clothes are generally useful.

K:
Has not come up with many ideas....
Trash packs (loves playing with the few U has - even though really for older children).
I think Mr. VL has given London son ideas about musical instruments, but there are probably several options here. Basically, something that is fun now, but also durable so they can be used years ahead. Ex. triangle, thera bells and other class room rhythm instruments. Otherwise your guesses as to what K likes is as good as mine.

Mrs VL said...

Now on to my KK wish.
Some years ahead in the future I might manage to come up with a cryptic riddle, but since the battle still is to get to bed in reasonable time a straight forward list will follow:

- "Torky on the go" in a durable colour for our kitchen. I am not sure if it only exists in Sweden, but if my KK manages to get this I will be super happy and surprised. Here is a picture: (https://www.mathem.se/varor/hushallspapper/torky-on-the-go-edet
- candle extinguisher
- Very bright bike lights (but not brighter than legal)
- Pin cushion with pins
- 5-year dairy
- Family calendar from Busy B with pocket. This style: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Busy-2017-Design-Family-Calendar/dp/B01HI7S3OC
- Lobster mittens that are lined with pure wool on the inside - for skiing and biking (this might be hard to get?)

Hopefully this list is helpful for my KK - good luck and in advance, thank you :-).

I'm dreaming of a quiet Christmas....or maybe not!
I would love a good old fashioned ghettoblaster or even just a fairly portable cd player/radio that I can use in the shed when I'm out working and working out! Whatever fits the budget will be fine, I'm not fussy!

The one who makes a living blowing raspberries down a length of brass tubing in front of crowds of people. said...

My request this year is pretty simple. I would love a decent quality, heavyish, medium sized, frying pan. If there's money left in the budget a decent set of tongs would be very welcome also.

As it stands we shall still be in our current Surrey address until at least January so postage arrangements have not changed.

Any issues post an anonymous message and I can give more details...

A mild complaint: Must say that it is a little bit boring when people only wish for one single item...no surprise element at all, apart from who is my KK...?

Father of quite a lot said...

Alright so. Anonymous would like a greater choice. I/we could do with a substantial torch, rechargeable or good quality windup, for our nocturnal dog walks. Current relic is apt to pack up, usually far from home. Dog is much better at finding his way back in the pitch dark than we are, and he's blind!

I am the 2nd youngest of the kk list said...

Well seeing as anonymous wants more ideas here is another one for me. If you are my kk you might not enjoy fulfilling this one depending on your location.

I would like some fruit trees. Apple, plum, pear perhaps. Nothing that will grow too tall and either a pair or ones that self germinate or whatever it's called.
The back hill (can't really call it garden) has full sunshine all day long (on a rare fully sunny Irish day) and is semi sheltered.

Hope that's helpful.

Other suggestions for me:

Running socks suitable for UK size 10.
Nice Chopping Board
Nerf Gun
Any interesting recent cookbooks (have not had a new one for over a year)
Interesting Factual/Science/Business/Psychology/anything really books.
Posh Ballpoint Pen
Fun card/board game (not uno or Cluedo) that works well with 2 people, but also more.

There you go Anonymous, enough suggestions for you? (wink) x

Viking Longship said...

To satisfy anonymous, I am going to come with a selection of hints/wishes this year. Which can be mixed and match, if there happens to be any dosh left over!!!

I'll start cryptic (in the hope that I get some guesses and discussion going) but promise to be much more specific pretty quickly.

Option 1:

My Neocaridina are proving to be highly successful procreators. So much so that I had to acquire a larger enclosure for them. As with any housing, and especially considering the other occupants, more space requires more cleaning and I am not satisfied with the capacity or technology for my current system. What I really need is a system that employs multiple cleaning technologies both mechanical and biological yet takes no space from the environment being cleaned........

Option 2: One of my recent interests has led to the acquisition of some suitable pieces of equipment. One of these has been Nicknamed the Ball-Breaker. Adjustment of said balls whilst sitting could provide some relief, but comes at a significant risk in it's self. However, were one able to adjust on the move, it still doesn't remove the issue of landing on them. Of course another option could be tape.....

at least 2 more options coming very soon........

A quick Question, who was born first, Kerryman or his wife.

"I am the 2nd youngest of the kk list said..."

Is not really so very helpful all in all......

Kerryman said...

I am the 3rd youngest.

Some more requests from me.

DNA ancestry test kit.

Good Hand saw

Putty knife

Good paint brush

OK,

With regards to Option 2:

U know that I am a little mad.
Now, the Item I am referring to.
Is something that you sort of jump onto.
Cos climbing on is not an option.
You see it's not as easy as all that.
Cos of how it's constructed.
Let's put it like this
Every so often one lands on it wrong.

So that bits are under and not over
And that can be quite painful
Damn it hurts to squash those bits
Down under.
Let me have one that doesn't go up at the front giving an.
Even higher chance of squashed meat and 2 veg.

Well that really makes things clear, Mr VL!!!! (I don't think)

It is a little known fact that Flight EI0137 on May 20th 2017 nearly plunged into the Atlantic Ocean.

What, you may ask, was the cause of this nearly fatal accident?

Well there were a couple sitting in Row 41 H and K and she was watching a movie. Suddenly, she laughed out so loudly, that it caused the pilot to jerk forward the joystick in horror and nearly plunge the plane in the sea..........

What caused the riotous laughter? And the immediate thump given to her by her neighbour who also happened to be her husband.

It was all the fault of Bridget Jones' Baby. Lots of LOL moments in it through the headphones!

So, as husband didn't get to see the movie, the laugh out loud lady would like the trilogy. And said husband and wife can watch them together in the safety of their own home and ensure the safety of the the crew and passengers on the EI0137.

Request No 2:

Once a week in term time I go to Pilates. Its such good exercise for a geriatric like me. So good for joints and balance and muscle strength and keeping young. Well it would be if the exercises were also done at home in between classes. Well the one who blows a raspberry down a long tube in front of lots of people, was discussing this with me and it was his suggestion that I need an exercise mat. I'd then be able to get on the floor in comfort at home and do them on my own.

Request No 3: Sing to Holst's tune

Frost winds make moan

when you're far from home.
It is very clear to me
what I need is warm
clothing like a fle -ece
for the freezing morn.

I don't mind what colour,
black or blue or red,
green, lilac or orange,
you can choose instead.
I'm a size fourteen
or twelve if it is big
zip up or jumper
I don't give a fig.

I am now quite sure
that my allowance is spent,
So I hope Kris Kindle,
you know just what I meant.
Thank you in advance
for what I might receive.
Hope you get the shopping
before Christmas Eve.

Right, I guess it's time to specify my wishes before it's too late for shipping....

Option 1 is an external filter for my fish tank. Badly needed as the arrangement I have at the moment is a little makeshift, especially since I have to rap the filters in a fine mesh to stop my shrimp from ending up in them.

This is the one I've in mind.

https://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium/filters/external/ef-150-400-l-h/

Which does exactly what I want with both mechanical and biological filtering and is suitably sized for my 120L tank yet doesn't break my KK bank!!!

Now, if one avails of the free UK shipping (see below) then I would also like a new air pump as mine has packed up!

https://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium/equipment/air-pumps/180-litres-ap-3-kit-pump-free-accessories/

And finally, to stop my shrimp from disappearing into this filter, one of these (16mm) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aquarium-Fish-Tank-Filter-Mesh-Intake-Guard-Strainer-Fish-Shrimp-Safety-Protect/302354419905?hash=item4665ba50c1:m:m7iSMEwV4Lcq45Ue3J6lAPw

So that's option one.

Option 2 is (was) a new saddle for my MUni (Mountain Unicycle). As explained the one I have on it (which is actually in good nick) is of a design that has an awful tendency to squash ones Bollux....

However, even though I said that I was going to give 2 options, since I have a chance of hand carried presents very early in the new year and there are really only 2 things I really want I have decided to specify one option here so that I can specify the other somewhere else!!

So, Even though both wishes are equally "pressing" in there own ways, what I would really like from my KK is the Filter and associated equipment specified above.

Now, for Shipping, the "Saw Sharpener" is coming to us on the 4th of Jan and willing to carry some items in his luggage. I am very happy to wait until then as it will mean that one gets free shipping and I won't have to carry it home from Ireland. Shipping directly to Norway will leave us with a big bill for the customs so isn't really an option (probably equal to the value of the items after they have added a 200,- NOK handling charge)!!!

The Ebay item can ship directly to Norway (for free!!). If my KK is not Ebay literate then don't worry about that bit.

I will send TSS's details/address on WhatsApp, otherwise if my KK would prefer to ship to Ireland (without the Air Pump to keep within the limit), then that's also fine.

Yes - i'm into self-inflicted punishment. So maybe my kriskindle should be a whip... Tried to go kayaking this morning, but a thick layer of ice has put a stop to my endeavours (-3 air temp is just perfect for this sort of thing).

Anyway, after a long and fruitless discussion with my wife when we came to the conclusion that I'm quite a low maintenance and simple sort of chap with a long term wish list that will definitely not fit in the budget (namely a Saab 9-3 sportcombi and a quality marathon kayak at about 4000 euro...), we came up with the following, rather boring but necessary item of clothing:

A jumper (pullover).

The following would be what I need:

https://www.peek-cloppenburg.de/fynch-hatton/pullover-mit-rundhalsausschnitt-dunkelblau-9735640_4/

Light blue, dark blue or petrol (definitely not turquoise), and medium in size.

If it doesn't arrive by christmas (which is more than likely...) it's definitely not the senders fault and I won't be in any way offended. It should just fit in the budget, but I can make up the difference...

Thank you so much Mr LAST ONE.
