My Old Girls....

My Spitfire is 31 years old and my Landy 41 Years. It's good to see the older generation helping each other out. The Landys been back on the road now for over two years (and way too many miles!) and the Spits getting ready for it's return to the spotlight...

I did some work on the brake lines and the need to take a test drive was an excuse to get the engine running after the winter break. She needed a little help, greatfully provided, as you can see.

The Spits due a new windscreen this week, then I've got to stamp the chassis number in the chassis (I changed the bit of the chassis where it used to be), and shes ready to be registered for the first time in nearly 9 years. Then it's simply repair and paint the boot, bonnet and doors and fit the interior and we're done....

It's worth the effort.

Good luck with getting the Spit registered. She certainly looks beautiful.

Its a pity our thirty seven year old isn't in as good shape, although she's driving well since her last service. The clutch has been adjusted and clears properly, which makes things much easier..

Hmm, there's usually a reason why chassis numbers are ground out... But it already looks fantastic. Is the last sentence a little bit of desperate optimism, or is it that simple? Does it feel strange to drive it after all that time?

A correction, the Landy is 44 years old, it was my other one which was a '66 model.

TOCO, relatively, compared to last years effort, it is that simple. It is a load of work though.

It nearly feels as good to drive as I remember, but the engine still needs a little more setting up and it's lacking a few creature comforts at the mo. I am happy that it will be well worth all the effort though.
